In his five years with the college, Evyson Beasley’s innovation and creativity have had a significant impact on Renton Technical College (RTC). He was instrumental in a recent web upgrade, has grown RTC’s social media audience and provides beautiful creative to support communications and marketing campaigns and initiatives. In the past year, he created complex web pages to inform the community about COVID and assumed a new role as creative services director with great success.
Beasley is a relationship builder who embodies RTC’s core themes of equity, inclusion and community. He spearheaded the development of both the Faculty and Staff of Color Network and the Lavender Network, providing space for employees to gather, share, learn and find ways to support each other and students.
He understands the importance of making sure all students and employees have equal access to technology and learning opportunities, and he’s dedicated to improving the accessibility of RTC’s website and documents. He’s remediated documents, PDFs, photos and web pages and captioned videos; and he spent dozens of hours conducting one-on-one training with staff members to teach them how to create accessible documents.
Beasley creates videos, advertisements and publications and helps student groups and faculty members with design and marketing projects on top of his already heavy workload.
“Evyson is the most talented person I have ever had on a team,” says Katherine Hedland Hansen, RTC’s executive director of college relations and marketing and Beasley’s nominator. “He is enthusiastic and goes above and beyond by voluntarily taking on projects outside his job duties, developing new and better ways to deliver web and social media content, constantly learning and staying abreast of the latest technology and producing the highest quality work.”
