With over 25 years of experience in higher education administration and advocacy, Brett Rowlett brings skill, creativity, flexibility and dedication to his role as executive director of external affairs at Lane Community College (LCC) in Oregon.
When LCC was without a director of marketing, Rowlett became responsible for all marketing efforts while maintaining his own role and that of the recently retired public information officer. Through turnover and change, he has been a constant.
Under his leadership, Rowlett’s team built a new website with minimal chaos and only occasional panic. Despite setbacks, the new site is live and attracts even more prospective students than before. Click-thru has increased and prospective students have been driven to the LCC website at rates above the national average.
Along with this new site, Rowlett’s team has worked with enrollment services to introduce and implement a new CRM that is destined to become a huge part of LCC’s strategic communication with current, former and new students.
Rowlett has expanded communication efforts aimed at brand recognition, resulting in double the amount of positive news coverage for the college. He works with enrollment services to ensure consistent messaging, communication across teams and divisions, and strategies that make LCC a first choice for students.
He also is a dedicated employee. The phrase “Ask Brett” comes into play frequently at LCC, as Rowlett makes it his business to know the news and policies – and their history – that could impact LCC and other two-year colleges.
