Dr. France Cruz plays a vital role in the success of MiraCosta College’s Office of Advancement in areas ranging from social media to alumni. Her efforts have impacted the college’s brand reputation, increased alumni engagement, garnered financial support and fostered a strong sense of community among current students and alumni alike.
Dr. Cruz’s expertise in marketing has assisted with enrollment and retention and expanded the college’s digital footprint, elevating its brand and reputation locally, nationally and globally. For more than 13 years, she has significantly enhanced the college’s digital presence. From just a few hundred followers on Facebook, she successfully grew the college’s online audience to thousands across multiple social platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
She also played a pivotal role in establishing and implementing the MiraCosta Alumni Association. This initiative was unprecedented for a community college, and creating such an association posed considerable challenges. However, Dr. Cruz’s foresight and innovative marketing strategies ensured alumni’s successful integration and engagement with their alma mater. Her personalized and targeted marketing campaigns facilitated meaningful connections with prospective graduates and alumni, leading to notable achievements for the association.
For instance, the 2019 inaugural event co-organized by Dr. Cruz was a resounding success, selling out and bringing together alumni to celebrate their achievements. The event also raised $13,000 and helped establish an endowed scholarship. This past year, the association continued its momentum with two successful “Alumnight” events, celebrating theatre graduates and those from MiraCosta College’s groundbreaking bachelor’s degree program in biomanufacturing.
