2022 District 4 Pacesetter

Dr. Jennifer Methvin
Chancellor
Arkansas State University - Beebe
Beebe, AR

Dr. Jennifer Methvin fell in love with community college education at Arkansas State University-Beebe (ASU-Beebe), where she began her career in higher education as an adjunct instructor. Now, she is the institution’s chancellor.

Dr. Methvin is committed to ensuring that the priorities and goals in ASU-Beebe’s strategic plan are engrained in the campus culture. She championed the development of the “plan in the hand,” a condensed version of the plan’s goals, which outline the college’s commitment to provide students and employees with the resources needed for success, fostering a one-college approach to serving students across ASU-Beebe’s multicampus system, and developing strong community partnerships to create opportunities for ASU-Beebe’s students.

Methvin meets regularly with ASU-Beebe’s high school education partners to discuss how ASU-Beebe can meet their students’ needs, and she is supportive of the college’s public relations and marketing efforts. Dr. Methvin has a firm understanding of the need for creating a cohesive brand and identity for the college; she has been a staunch supporter of the marketing department’s efforts to unify ASU-Beebe’s fragmented brand to create a streamlined look to all the college’s marketing materials. She’s championed new marketing initiatives and rallied faculty and staff to work collaboratively with the marketing department in these efforts, which include the development of program-specific marketing collateral, the development of a new website and the college’s first digital marketing campaigns.

She’s also prioritized getting ASU-Beebe to join NCMPR, when the college had previously had no involvement.

“As a new marketing director joining the team in the middle of a fiscal year, I found Dr. Methvin to be extremely supportive of my recommendation to become a member institution of NCMPR,” writes Hannah Keller Flannery, the college’s former director of marketing and public relations and Dr. Methvin’s nominator. “She readily recognized the value of NCMPR (and) worked collaboratively with me and the associate vice chancellor of advancement to reallocate funds to pay for membership and national conference attendance.”
