Awards That Reward Excellence

Rewarding excellence among two-year college communicators is one of many ways NCMPR supports the professional development of its members. All of the awards, in their own way, say "Job well done!"


Paragon-icon  Paragon Awards

The national Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at two-year community and technical colleges. It's the only national competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges. Award competition open in October. 

Medallion-icon  Medallion Awards

The district Medallion Awards are similar to the Paragons but recognize excellence in design and communication on a regional basis at community and technical colleges in each of seven districts. Award competition open in July. 

Pacesetter-icon  Pacesetter Award

The Pacesetter of the Year Award recognizes a community college president or CEO who has demonstrated special leadership and support in marketing and public relations.

Communicator-icon  Communicator Award

The Communicator of the Year Award honors a two-year college marketing professional who has demonstrated leadership and ability in college communications. 

Rising-Star-icon  Rising Star Award

The Rising Star Award recognizes an up-and-coming communications professional who has demonstrated special creativity and ability in college marketing and PR and shows evidence of a promising future in the field.

Creative-iconCreative Award

Recognizes a marketing and communications professional whose creative vision and innovative work have made a significant impact on their institution and the profession.

Petrizzo-icon  Petrizzo Career Service Award

The D. Richard Petrizzo Career Service Award honors an NCMPR professional for career accomplishments in college marketing and public relations.

Presidents-icon  President's Award

The President's Award is among the highest distinctions given to an individual or organization that has made extraordinary contributions to advancing community colleges on a regional or national basis, particularly in the areas of marketing and public relations. 

Team Award

Recognizes a marketing and communications team whose collaborative efforts, strategic thinking and creative excellence have achieved outstanding results for their institution.
