2018 District 7 Rising Star

2018 District 7 Rising Star

Laura Daniali
Communications Specialist
Edmonds College
Lynnwood, WA

Described by her supervisor as “a breath of fresh air,” Laura Daniali’s upbeat and positive nature has been a vital asset to Edmonds Community College’s marketing team. In her first two years, she led multiple projects that include: developing a crisis communication plan that will integrate into the campus safety and emergency operations procedure, refreshing the college’s social media and news blog that synchronizes with the college’s new branding elements; and leading a social media ambassador summit that brings together social media coordinators from across campus to share best practices and work toward a single, consistent voice. In addition, she wrote the entire text for the college’s 16-page, 50th Anniversary Commemorative booklet.

Her colleagues know Laura as a self-motivated problem solver who is always ready to learn more. This is evident in her weekly sharing of marketing and social media articles, intended to inspire and motivate the marketing team with new social media branding strategies and ideas for workflow efficiency.

Laura has worked tirelessly over the past two-years to develop and foster relationships with local and regional media, pitching stories about ECC’s student and employee successes. Her efforts have been actualized through 141 total stories picked up by the media in 2017, and 115 stories, to-date for 2018. Her supervisor, Marisa Pierce, put it best: “Laura’s love for the community and students at Edmonds Community College is a driving force behind her passion for telling the ECC story.”

As a member of NCMPR, Laura has shared her communications expertise by presenting at the 2018 national conference in Las Vegas. She currently volunteers as the Washington representative on the District 7 Executive Council and hopes to become more involved with NCMPR in the future.
