2017 District 6 Rising Star

2017 District 6 Rising Star

Kerri Ewing
Interim Community Partnerships and Advancement Coordinator
Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District
El Cajon, CA

In the short time that Kerri Ewing has been with the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District, their department has gone from doing virtually no marketing to becoming a full ad agency for both of its member colleges. With her unique background as both a talented graphic designer and as a savvy marketer, the department was able to get a budget and develop a coordinated district-wide marketing campaign. Kerri is in charge of creating all of the advertising material for the district, which includes extensive social media marketing, bus ads, newspaper ads, brochures, banners for the two campuses, and web ads. She leads the district-wide PR and Marketing Committee, and designed the district’s 2015-16 annual report, which won a gold Paragon from NCMPR.

Kerri is known as a collaborative professional who is willing to help, no matter the request. When the department administrative assistant was on leave for several months, it was Kerri who stepped up to order supplies, schedule meetings, and keep the office in good running order. Kerri is also incredibly creative and has that magic touch which can turn a vague idea into a design masterpiece, like her work on the district’s strategic plan. She took what was incredibly dry material and designed it in such a way as to produce a readable and attractive document.

As noted by her team, Kerri’s passion, dedication and positivity brings the marketing staff together both professionally and personally. She is frequently called on by both colleges to design materials, and she is responsive and helpful. Kerri is an active member of NCMPR, having attended the 2016 regional and national conferences and presented at the District 6 conference on how to develop a marketing campaign.

Congratulations to Kerri Ewing for being named the 2017 NCMPR District 6 Rising Star!
