The director of marketing for Coffeyville Community College, Kris Adams shows exceptional leadership skills and is considered a well-rounded professional in her field. Not only is she a tremendous marketer, designer, writer, and photographer and videographer, she takes time to train and provide growth opportunities for staff and students. Adams developed and currently manages a scholarship program working with students interested in graphic design, photography, journalism and sports information. She spends countless hours working with students, teaching them the skills needed to build exceptional portfolios. She also helps place these students into internships around the area. Additionally, Adams started a volunteer appreciation program, “Caught Redd Handed,” to recognize individuals that help make campus events a success.
Adams has taken initiative to streamline and instigate processes to make the CCC marketing department more efficient, including cross training team members, building a database of in-house images for use in marketing materials and the college website, implementing a project management system to help keep track of creative projects, and creating a work order request system for faculty and staff. In addition, Adams was the brainchild of CCC’s newly created Multi Media Center which has been a proven asset in recruitment and retention.
As noted by her team, Adams’ passion, dedication and positivity brings the marketing staff together both professionally and personally. She is never too busy to help with a problem or skill and genuinely cares about the wellbeing of staff. Adams readily shares insights and ideas from conferences and recently presented at the NCMPR District 3 and District 5 regional conference.
