How has Dr. Fegan made a significant difference in advancing Navarro College? He challenges faculty and academic leadership to design programs that respond directly to workforce needs, such as Welding on Wheels. The mobile training lab is housed in a semi-trailer equipped with eight welding bays that can be deployed to job sites or another Navarro College location for on-demand training. Dr. Fegan has also strengthened Navarro College’s ties to the community through intentional partnerships and service. He actively involves local leaders and organizations in events, academic advisory boards and strategic projects; and he encourages faculty and staff to serve on boards for groups including the local chamber of commerce and rotary club. His vision also inspired the creation of Bulldogs Serve, a college-wide day of community service.
How has Dr. Fegan advanced community colleges regionally and nationally? His influence extends beyond campus borders through leadership roles that shape policy, strategy and visibility for community colleges. He currently serves as president of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference, a position that elevates the profile of community colleges across the state. His active service on the Texas Association of Community College’s legislative and strategic planning committees allows him to directly influence statewide policy, advocate for resources, and guide the future direction of community colleges in Texas.
