Job The Executive Director of Marketing and Communications for State Fair Community College is responsible for all aspects of internal and external communications, identity management and marketing on behalf of the entire college.

This position oversees the planning and implementation of a successful integrated communication, marketing strategy and public relations to advance and promote SFCC's vision, mission, purpose, and services.

Working in close coordination with divisions and departments, the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications takes a creative approach in using multi-faceted and multimedia strategies to disseminate news updates and develop promotional opportunities on both short and long-term initiatives. The Executive Director oversees development and implementation of support materials and online presence for the college, and also directs the efforts of departmental staff and coordinates at strategic and tactical levels with other departments in the College to fulfill their communication needs.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills Essential Duties:
• Create, implement and measure the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the College's image and position within the marketplace and with the general public and ensure that the image and position is communicated across all constituencies, both internal and external
• Develop and implement comprehensive strategic marketing communication plans for marketing department as well as other departments, as appropriate.
• Develop and communicate the college's brand and image; maintain and enforce the college's identity standards.
• Provide editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all internal and external College marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials, including print materials, media relations, online design, social media, advertising, recruiting and related materials.
• Act as the College's media liaison, and primary point of contact, to oversee the dissemination of press releases regarding SFCC news and activities and to generate interest in the College activities and services, ensure regular contact with media and appropriate response to media requests as well as develop, and maintain, a media planning communication calendar; a database of media contacts and library of coverage.
• Conduct relevant market research and monitor marketing/public relations industry and educational trends to assist the College in operating with initiative and innovation.
• Implement and ensure achievement of departmental and College-wide Strategic Plan goals related to marketing and public relations. • Develop and implement short and long-term plans and budgets, monitor progress, assure adherence, and evaluate performance of the Marketing/Public Relations department and its activities.
• Administer SFCC and Daum Museum websites as well as build and monitor web content.
• Direct and manage marketing/media buyer consultants and agencies, graphic artists, photographers and writers, prepare RFPs, negotiate contracts and manage individual projects
• Manage the day-to-day activities and performance of departmental staff.
• Assist the president with any special projects deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements Qualifications:
This position requires ability to work well with media and the community and is responsible for College marketing and public relations. Candidate must be familiar with social media, online marketing and design, web design, editing and maintenance, Microsoft Office, and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Must also have experience with InDesign, Photoshop; AP Style; and general knowledge of WordPress and HTML. Experience with Adobe design software, photography, and video is a plus. Ability to manage multiple projects at once is key to this position's success. A bachelor's degree and previous experience in journalism or marketing is preferred.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communication or related field. 

Experience:
Minimum five years progressively responsible experience in a leadership role for either marketing, public relations, communication, or strategic planning.
