2021 District 5 Communicator

Crystal Hollmann
Director of Marketing
Northeast Community College
Norfolk, NE

An organization like Northeast Community College cannot function effectively without dedicated individuals who work to ensure that students and employees receive the educational and institutional quality that they expect.

“There are many employees at the college who exhibit these qualities, but we cannot think of anyone who demonstrates them any better on a continual basis than Crystal Hollmann,” writes Jennifer Greve, Northeast’s executive director of marketing and recruitment, in Hollmann’s nomination letter.

A digital ad and geofencing marketing campaign, implemented by Hollmann, is just one example of her leadership. The campaign, which also tracks prospective students through the enrollment funnel, gives the marketing office solid metrics to evaluate and improve its marketing and recruitment strategies. This campaign was so successful that the marketing agency that purchased and dispersed the ad spots asked to use it as a “gold standard” for future digital marketing campaigns.

Hollman is a lifelong learner, keeping up-to-date on changes in the marketing field. She completed a course to become certified in SEO, which sparked an interest in analytics, which led to a master’s degree in strategic marketing. Thanks to Hollmann, Northeast was the first college in the nation to advertise on TikTok. She tests campaigns, adopts new trends and learns how audiences behave on digital platforms.

Hollmann is a creative thinker and speedy worker, which means assignments are completed in a timely matter. What’s more is that people enjoy working with Hollmann. Though Hollmann has experienced health challenges in the last year, on top of the pandemic, she continues to be an  upbeat worker who exudes professionalism.

“With her positive outlook, you would never know of any of the setbacks that she has dealt with while continuing to do her job, all with a cheery smile and warm welcome to anyone she encounters,” Greve writes. “She brightens everyone’s day anytime anyone speaks with her.”
